Early 20th C. lost wax cast Bronze Ninomiya Sontoku statue.
He lost his father @ the age 14 and worked and studied while caring for his younger brother and mother. He went on to become a great teacher in the mid Edo period. Sculptures like this one can be found at schools and city buildings throughout Japan.

Emma-ou, Late 18th C. The Japanese over lord of Hell. The Head without original glass eyes and massive body is carved wood with lacquer and gold leaf. Emma-ou judges the souls of men while his sister judges the souls of women.
