Raku-yaki was highly favored by 'Sen-no-Rikyu' (1522-1591) who is considered the historical figure with the most pronounced influence on 'Cha-no-yu', the 'Japanese Way of Tea', particularly the tradition of 'Wabi-cha'.
'Raku' means 'enjoyment' or 'comfort' and derives from Jurakudai, the name of a palace in Kyoto, Japan.
