A rare antique horse saddle collected at Kyoto Auction.
Hand carved hard wood decorated with silver inlay copper and stingray skin. The seat is covered with wild boar skin.
Still structurally strong.
Probably used for Japanese domestic horses because of the size.
Late Edo (early - mid 19th Century)

Beautiful red lacquered with gold in his eyes.
Very old faded writing inside of the jaw, possibly 39th year of Meiji period. (1907)
