The 2 pc pipes were common in Southwest China and designed to be easily cleaned and carried for travel. the saddle and stem are 19th century ,Pipe stem probably newly foiled in the last 20 years to appear to be a Royal Relic,( Five claw dragon and all).Owners of a pipe of this quality would put the five claw dragon on the pipe to make an old pipe more valuable to dealers and the trade. Over all though it is a beautiful pipe. It needs to be cleaned inside as it was used heavily.
