Early Edo Period,(1600's-early 1700's.) Temple relic from Kyoto area.
Incredibly rare to find. The sculpture was made when the Japanese carvers had only their Imagination and stories they heard to work from when carving the Tiger Image. The tiger resembled more a fierce cat in the early works because the Cat was the only feline live models they had to work from.( Tigers are not Native to Japan). contact us for price
