KYO GAR064Amazing Late 16th Century/ Early 17th Century Century Chinese Marble Foo Lions,( MING DYNASTY 1368-1644)
A pair of large marble Chinese Foo Lions purchased at a Japanese Auction.
They were from a mansion of one of the major Japanese railroad company CEO in Ashiya, Hyogo pref,( Nankai Railroad). They were taken out of China during WWII during the Japanese occupation.Used in his Garden for more than 60 years but spent more than 300 years infront of a Chinese temple in Northeast China. They are now at our warehouse in Kyoto. Please let us know if you need more information.
Hand carved marble is beautifully worn. Male Foo is holding a treasure ball, and Female Foo is holding a baby. Now impossible to take out of China, These Ming Lions are rare indeed!!

Size: H 5'9" (175cm), W 2'1" (64cm), D 4'1" (124cm)
Each piece weighs about 2 tons.
